The Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has earned $11 million in federal grants to create a gastroenterology clinic and endoscopy center in a nearby medical tower and upgrade the Monroe Building on its Little Rock campus.

Dallas-based GI Alliance has entered a definitive agreement with Dublin, Ohio-based pharmaceutical distributor and healthcare services company Cardinal Health in which Cardinal will acquire a majority stake in GI Alliance, The Economic Times reported Nov. 12.

GI management services provider United Digestive has partnered with Gifthealth, a patient adherence and education platform.

Several leaders joined Becker's on a Nov. 1 panel at the 30th annual Business and Operations of ASCs Meeting in Chicago to discuss emerging issues in gastroenterology and patient care technology, from artificial intelligence to new screening tools.

Here are five providers expanding their gastroenterology service offerings since Oct. 1: 

Abilene, Texas-based Hendrick Health has embarked upon an expansion project for a new gastroenterology clinic and endoscopy center, Abilene Reporter News reported Nov. 8. 

There are 1,541 gastroenterology physician group practices in the U.S., according to a recent report by Definitive Healthcare.
