Healthcare is increasingly consolidating, and gastroenterology is one of the many specialties with physicians migrating to employed models. 

From FDA clearances to hospitals using GI Genius, here are 13 gastroenterology updates Becker's has reported on since Sept. 21:

Dallas is the highest-paying U.S. city for mid-career (eight to 14 years) gastroenterologists, while Atlanta is the highest-paying city for late-career (22 to 28 years) gastroenterologists, based on data compiled from Medscape's 2022 salary reporter. 

UH Cleveland Medical Center will receive additional donated GI Genius endoscopy units through a program sponsored by Medtronic and Amazon Web Services.

Delta (Utah) Community Hospital, which is part of Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare, has begun using Medtronic's artificial intelligence-assisted polyp detection device, GI Genius, CBS affiliate KUTV reported Sept. 28.

Medtronic received FDA clearance for its gastrointestinal bleeding solution, Nexpowder. 

Fujifilm has debuted its new endoscopic ultrasound endoscope, EG-74OUT, a convex ultrasonic endoscope for the upper gastrointestinal tract.
