Here are three gastroenterology facility openings that Becker's has reported on since Nov. 6:

Lansing, Mich.-based Sparrow Medical Group will now offer gastroenterology services at its Carson City, Mich.-based Sparrow Carson and Sparrow Ionia (Mich.) Hospitals.

In a randomized trial published in the journal Gastroenterology, creator of the GI Genius intelligent endoscopy module, three Italian research centers found that computer-aided polyp detection increases adenoma detection rates over high-definition colonoscopy alone.

Here are four gastroenterologists who have made headlines, as reported by Becker's since Nov. 10:

West Virginia University Medicine Fairmont Medical Center has cut the ribbon on two new endoscopy and gastroenterology suites that will officially open to patients on Dec. 4. 

As the new year approaches, gastroenterologists, along with many other physicians, are beginning to examine their priorities for 2024.

Oxford-based Gastroenterology Associates of North Mississippi is expanding its services to Batesville, Miss.-based Panola Medical Center, effective Jan. 1. 

Only two certified gastroenterology residency positions nationwide remain unfilled for 2023, with 688 positions filled by MD and DO students, according to data from the National Resident Matching Program, published Nov. 29.
