Olympus dives deeper into endoscopy field through product expansion, forming strategic partnerships

Olympus is expanding its EndoTherapy product line and forming agreements with various companies.

Here are four things to know:

1. The EndoTherapy line includes SB Knives, which facilitates controlled precision cutting during endoscopic submucosal dissections. The knives are part of an exclusive distribution agreement between Olympus and Sumitomo Bakelite.

2. Olympus formed a co-promotion agree with Aries Pharmaceuticals for Olympus' Eleview, which enables better vision of lesion margins. The devices lower the risk of gastrointestinal perforation and external muscular layer damage through enhanced margin visualization.

3. Olympus and Ruhof Healthcare entered into an exclusive distribution agreement for the Guardian Endoscope Single-Use Valve Set. Ruhof manufactures the set and Olympus will distribute it.

4. Kurt Heine, group vice president of the endoscopy division at Olympus America said, "With each device we unveil to the GI community, Olympus gains strength as being more than an excellent imaging partner; we evolve into a complete solutions provider to our customers. Strategic partnerships, a commitment to innovation and a drive to provide methods to raise quality and satisfaction while lowering costs — these are ways we build trust with our customers every day."
