The center’s physician group was formed in 1972. The center expanded over the decades resulting in the 11 physicians and four advanced practice nurses on staff today.

In 1999, the group adopted the Iowa Digestive Disease Center moniker. The Iowa Endoscopy Center was built in 1993, after the state granted a certificate of need to the physician group.

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care accredited the endoscopy center and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy recognized the endoscopy center through its recognition program.
