Memorial Medical Center has broken ground on the almost $15 million expansion that will see the hospital undergo major reconstruction and expansion of its surgery and emergency service areas. Other outpatient services, including cardiopulmonary, laboratory and medical imaging, will also undergo enhancements.

Once a new emergency department is built, the existing ED is expected to be converted to the endoscopy center.

Completion of the project is expected in late 2013.
