Here’s what you should know.

1. Maccabi runs its EHRs through ColonFlag. The application uses its predictive care engine to identify individuals that physicians should contact and test for the disease.

2. Maccabi used ColonFlag for the last year and evaluated approximately 80,000 patients. Of those, ColonFlag marked 690 as high risk patients.

3. Physicians contacted the high risk patients and 220 had colonoscopies. Forty-two percent had some precancerous findings. Researchers confirmed 20 cases of cancer and 20 patients had immediate or high risk adenomas.

4. ColonFlag is not yet cleared for use in the United States.
