TIF is an anatomical solution that allows surgeons to repair the antireflux barrier transorally, reducing hiatal hernia and creating a valve between the stomach and the esophagus to restore physiological anatomy and reducing GERD, according to the report.

The incisionless procedure allows for quicker recovery and reduced pain with no visible scarring, according to the report. Some studies have shown that patients undergoing the TIF procedure have been able to resume eating and drinking foods they had been avoiding for years due to GERD.
