Researchers performed portal vein pressure measurements on hepatitis C patients who recovered with interferon-free treatment.
Here are three things to know:
1. The study shows if patients undergo hepatitis C treatment at an early stage, portal vein hypertension also diminishes.
2. The study’s findings indicate hepatitis C patients may not have to take medication to prevent portal vein hypertension, which is responsible for liver cirrhosis complications.
3. Additionally, patients may not have to undergo endoscopic check-ups as often as they had to in the past.
