In light of criticism for the high price tag of its oral hepatitis C drug Sovaldi, Gilead has made discount agreements with a number of health insurers, according to a Medscape report.
The drug has a list-price of $1,000 a pill, a total of $84,000 for a 12-week course of therapy. Gilead already provides a 23 percent mandated discount to government insurers.
Gilead representatives believe the concern over the drug is due to the volume of demand.
