GI physician leader to know: Dr. Vera Hupertz of Cleveland Clinic

Vera Hupertz, MD, is pediatric medical director of hepatology and liver transplantation at Cleveland Clinic. She also serves as the vice chair of quality improvement at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital. She is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition and American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.

Dr. Hupertz’s clinical interests include chronic pancreatitis, Crohn’s Disease, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure and small bowel rehabilitation, liver disorders, metabolic complications of obesity and metabolic disorders. She is board-certified in pediatrics, pediatric gastroenterology and pediatric transplant hepatology.

Dr. Hupertz earned her medical degree at University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed her pediatrics residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland, where she also completed her pediatric gastroenterology fellowship.
