Before joining Yale, Dr. Vender was chief of gastroenterology at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven. He also co-founded and served as managing partner of Hamden-based Gastroenterology Center of Connecticut.
Dr. Vender has won numerous awards over the course of his career, including the William Carey Award from the ACG; the Distinguished Clinician Award from the American Gastroenterologic Association; and the DeLuca Award from the Yale School of Medicine. Additionally, he currently chairs the ACG Professionalism Committee.
Dr. Vender earned his medical degree at Yale School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he also completed his gastroenterology fellowship.
