GI physician leader to know: Dr. Robert Kavitt of University of Chicago Medicine

Robert T. Kavitt, MD, is the medical director of Center for Esophageal Diseases and an assistant professor of medicine at The University of Chicago Medicine. He is a member of American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastroenterological Association.

Dr. Kavitt’s clinical interests include gastroesophageal reflux disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, colon cancer screening, esophageal motility disorders including achalasia as well as Barrett’s esophagus. He has published several journal articles and book chapters on esophageal disorders and has presented his research at numerous scientific meetings. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Kavitt earned his medical degree at University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his residency at University of Chicago Medicine and his fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
