Dr. Bezerra is active in the outpatient GI clinical service and the inpatient liver service. He is also involved in research and runs his own laboratory at the hospital. His research interests include molecular control of liver regeneration, biliary atresia and genetic basis of intrahepatic cholestasis. His work has been published in numerous prestigious journals, such as Journal of Pediatrics, Gastroenterology and Journal of Clinical Investigation.
Dr. Bezerra earned his medical degree at Federal University Rio Grande Norte in Brazil. He completed his residency at University of Arizona in Tuscon and his gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center/University of Cincinnati.
