GI physician leader to know: Dr. Brett Bernstein of Mount Sinai Beth Israel

Brett Bernstein, MD, is the director of endoscopy, division of digestive diseases at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York. He is also the medical director of Eastside Endoscopy in New York. Additionally, he is the chief quality officer for Beth Israel’s ambulatory endoscopy services. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and he is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Quality Assurance Committee.

Dr. Bernstein’s clinical interests include colon and rectal cancer, Crohn’s Disease, digestive diseases, esophageal disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis and reflux disease. He oversees the more than 11,000 procedures that are performed annually at Beth Israel’s endoscopy department. He also serves as the program director of the gastroenterology fellowship at Beth Israel.

Dr. Bernstein earned his medical degree at Mount Sinai Medical School in New York, and he completed his residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where he also completed a gastroenterology fellowship.
