GI leader to know: Dr. Mark Lowe of Washington University School of Medicine at St. Louis

Mark Lowe, MD, is a gastroenterologist and the vice chair of clinical affairs and strategic planning at Washington University School of Medicine at St. Louis.

Dr. Lowe practiced at Washington University for nearly two decades before becoming Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh chief of pediatric gastroenterology.

He specializes in pediatric gastroenterology.

Dr. Lowe began his career after earning his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He also earned a doctorate in biochemistry from Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Lowe is leading research to understand lipases and their roles in digestion and disease.
