Dr. Weinstock is also a professor at Tufts Medical Center.
He is recognized for his research on helminths, or parasitic worms, and how they can be used to relieve inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Weinstock also coined the term “hygiene hypothesis,” which refers to the increase in IBD cases in the West that can be linked to the elimination of beneficial intestinal parasites and bacteria.
Dr. Weinstock earned his medical degree at Detroit-based Wayne State Medical School.
