GI leader to know: Dr. Francisco Sylvester of UNC Children’s Hospital

Francisco Sylvester, MD, is chief of the pediatric gastroenterology division at Chapel Hill-based University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Sylvester treats more than 400 children with inflammatory bowel disease and researches how intestinal inflammation affects the skeleton growth of children. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sylvester is medical director of UNC Health Care children’s outpatient clinics.

Dr. Sylvester is also a professor of pediatrics at UNC Health Care.
