D. Montgomery Bissell, MD, is the chief of gastroenterology at the University of California-San Francisco.

Dr. Bissell is the director of the UCSF Liver Center and a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians. He leads the liver research laboratory at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.

His clinical interests include treating liver disease, including hepatocellular carcinoma, fibrosis and cirrhosis.
