It is the third consecutive year that the physicians of Gastroenterology Center of Connecticut are providing the “30 in 30” program in honor of colorectal cancer awareness month.
The 30 free screening colonoscopies are provided to community members who have recently lost their health insurance. Those patients 50 or over that have not yet been screened for colon cancer may be eligible to participate in the program.
During the 2011 “30-in-30” program, 47 polyps were removed, seven of which were precancerous polyps, along with multiple diagnoses of diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis.
