Gastroenterologists reported a 4 percent increase in average annual salary from 2016 to 2017. The average physician specialist salary was $329,000 in 2017, up from $316,000 in the previous year.
Primary care physicians reported annual salary at $223,000. Factors such as geographic location, practice setting and years of experience affect a physician’s overall compensation.
