Dr. Haubrich died Oct. 1. He was 89.
Dr. Haubrich joined what was the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in San Diego 1970. In 1972, he was named head of the gastroenterology department at Scripps, and served Scripps Clinic for 18 years.
He also served as a part-time clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Haubrich retired in 1988. He wrote “Medical Meanings: A Glossary of Word Origins” and contributed to “Bockus Gastroenterology.”
