Gastro Health acquires Digestive Health Physicians — 4 key notes

Miami-based Gastro Health acquired Fort Myers, Fla.-based Digestive Health Physicians and Outpatient Anesthesia Specialists.

Here’s what you should know:

1. This is Gastro Health’s first acquisition outside of Southern Florida.

2. Four physicians and two providers practice out of Digestive Health Physicians’ two Fort Myers locations.

3. Digestive Health Physicians’ James Penuel, MD, said in a release, “At Digestive Health Physicians, we take great pride in offering our patients outstanding care. By becoming part of Gastro Health, one of the most recognized gastroenterology groups in the country with an outstanding reputation, our patients will now benefit from the additional resources we will be able to provide.”

4. Gastro Health CEO Alejandro Fernandez said this acquisition positions Gastro Health for “tremendous growth throughout the state and the country.”
