FDA approves Torax Medical’s FENIX continence restoration device: 3 points

Torax Medical’s FENIX continence restoration system has received FDA clearance, according to a Medgadget report.

Here are three points:

1. The system, a magnetic bracelet, helps to contract the anal sphincter, keeping it closed unless sufficient force is voluntarily applied during trips to the bathroom.

2. The device is implanted using a single incision.

3. The device is similar to the company’s LINX gastroesophageal reflux management product, which is also a magnetic bracelet but it is implanted in the esophagus.
