Here’s what you should know.

1. Ms. Connick overcame breast cancer five years ago. She credits timely screening and early detection for her survival. The Connicks will share their experiences with cancer to raise awareness for colon cancer screening.

2. The effort is in partnership with Exact Sciences’ The New 50 campaign. The New 50 campaign aims to encourage people 50 years and older to talk with their provider about getting screened for colon cancer.

3. Mr. Connick said, “I know firsthand the value of early detection. Sadly, my own mother lost her battle with ovarian cancer when I was only 13 years old, but Jill and I are so grateful that a routine mammogram and sonogram found her breast cancer in the early stages, which we believe saved her life.”

He added that personal experience is the reason why the Connicks are spreading the word “about the life-saving importance of timely screening.”
