Exact Sciences opens new laboratory, can process up to 7M tests — 3 insights

Exact Sciences opened its 169,000-square-foot clinical laboratory and warehouse in Madison, Wis., June 26.

What you should know:

1. Exact expects to have the ability to process 7 million Cologuard tests by the end of 2019. Cologuard is a noninvasive screening test for colorectal cancer.

2. The newly opened lab can process 4 million tests, while Exact’s existing lab can process 3 million tests. Exact has processed more than 2 million Cologuard tests since 2014, when the test earned FDA approval.

3. The lab is on a property Exact labeled the Discovery Campus. Exact moved its customer care team into a neighboring office building and will open a large parking structure soon. A production and manufacturing space also sits on the campus.
