A Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist has completed the first procedure in EndoQuest Robotics’ trial of its endoluminal surgical system.

Norio Fukami, MD, removed a colorectal lesion using the robotic system in an endoscopic submucosal dissection. The trial is enrolling 50 patients at five U.S. sites, including Brigham and Women’s (Boston), Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.), Cleveland Clinic, AdventHealth Orlando and HCA Houston Healthcare, according to a Sept. 25 system news release from EndoQuest.

The ELS system is designed to make advanced endoluminal procedures easier to learn and perform, potentially helping patients avoid invasive surgeries such as colectomies.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
