Zahangir Khaled, MD, is a recipient of the Rock Doc Awards at the Illinois CancerCare Foundation’s annual CUREageous fundraiser, according to a Journal Star report.

Here are four things to note:

1. Dr. Khaled is a pediatric gastroenterologist at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, Ill.

2. He focuses on digestive and nutritional problems among children, and he has conducted research on GERD.

3. He has plans to start a research trial for Crohn’s disease.

4. He completed his pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at University of Chicago.
