Dr. R. Adam Noel Receives American Academy of Pediatrics Outstanding Achievement Award

R. Adam Noel, MD, a pediatric gastroenterologist with the Louisiana State Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Medicine, has received the American Academy of Pediatrics 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award, according to a report by The Advocate.

Dr. Noel earned the award for his research on neodymium magnets and the dangers of children ingesting these magnets. The results of his research contributed to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission decision to recall neodymium magnet toys and lawsuits to halt companies from selling products including the magnets.

The Section on Epidemiology/Council on Community Pediatrics presented the award.
