Here’s what you should know:

1. The capsule has lose-dose X-ray technology and a wireless tracking system. After ingestion, the capsule generates structural information on the colon’s lumen.

2. Physicians can use the information to create 2-D and 3-D maps of the colon, allowing for the identification of pre-cancerous polyps and abnormalities.

3. The company designed C-Scan as an alternative to colonoscopy preparation solutions, which are commonly cited as the reason why patients put off colonoscopies.

4. Check-Cap CEO Bill Densel said, “Achieving CE Mark approval is a significant accomplishment and an important milestone for our Company. This is a key validation of C-Scan and its potential as a convenient and comfortable option for identifying polyps in the colon.”

5. Check-Cap is in the midst of launching an European post-approval study and a U.S. pilot study. It’s anticipated both trials will launch in 2018.
