Are C diff. infections on the move?

A recent study performed by Kaiser Permanente California revealed that the majority of hospitalized patients who tested positive for C. difficile infection did so outside the hospital or within the first 72 hours of being admitted, according to a Medscape report.

Though CDI has traditionally been associated with the inpatient setting, the study suggests that community-based settings may play a role in identification, onset and potential transmission of the disease.
