Using Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Medicare data, researchers looked at patients without cancer who received a screening colonoscopy from 2001-2006. They found the frequency of anesthesiologist involvement increased from 11.0 percent of screening colonoscopies in 2001 to 23.4 percent in 2006.
