American Academy of Arts and Sciences elects Dr. John Carethers: 4 things to know

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences elected John D. Carethers, MD, as a member, according to an AGA report.

Here are four things to know:

1. Dr. Carethers currently serves as a professor of internal medicine, professor of human genetics and chair of the department of internal medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

2. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association. He is an AGA Legacy Society member and a senior associate editor of Gastroenterology.

3. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences honors individuals who have made significant contributions in scholarly and professional fields.

4. Dr. Carethers joins 175 other fellows who were elected in 2016.
