AGA working to combat duodenoscope contamination: 3 solutions

The American Gastroenterological Association's Center for GI Innovation and Technology is working with industry groups to combat duodenoscope contamination.

Here are the key details to know:

1. Raman Muthusamy, MD, and Michael Kochman, MD, are leading the center's efforts.

2. The AGA said potential solutions to duodenoscope contamination include improving existing reprocessing methods, automating reprocessing steps, using single-use parts and introducing disposable devices.

3. CGIT is also working with the CDC and FDA to improve duodenoscope safety.
