Here’s what you need to know.

1. Congress is passing a short term continuing resolution to fund the government through March 2017 “to forgo negotiating with President Barack Obama.”

2. If the continuing resolutions passes, funding for the NIH would fall flat.

3. The AGA is urging researchers to call their local Senator and tell them “that biomedical research does not operate on a fiscal calendar and that researchers and patients are dependent on consistent funding to continue to help find answers and cures to disease.”

4. The AGA is advocating for the passage of the FY 2017 appropriate bill. If it passes the NIH would receive a minimum of a $2 billion increase.
