AGA tackles probiotic use with new resource — 3 insights

The American Gastroenterological Association created an online resource for patients to consult when they're considering probiotic treatments.

1. Probiotic use is skyrocketing among U.S. adults. In recent years, more than 3.9 million Americans have tried probiotic products.

2. The AGA created its online resource to debunk misleading information and provide science-based resources.

AGA Center for Gut Microbiome Research and Education's Scientific Advisory Board member Purna Kashyap said, "All too often, we see patients who choose their probiotics based on an advertisement or something they read on the internet There is a lot we still don’t know about probiotics… To address this, the American Gastroenterological Association has developed trusted resources to help patients navigate the probiotics aisle.”
