AGA leaders meet with Senate committee to discuss superbug infections

Michael Kochman, MD, and Joel Brill, MD, leaders with the America Gastroenterological Association Center for GI Innovation and Technology, recently met with the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee to discuss the Preventing Superbugs and Protecting Patients Act.

Dr. Kochman and Dr. Brill met with the staff of Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., a ranking member of the Senate committee.

They expressed the AGA’s support for the new legislation, which would require scope manufacturers to submit proposed cleaning steps to the FDA as a part of the 510(k) regulatory process, according to the AGA report.
