3 Quick ASC Growth Strategies

1. Recruit new physician members. “We were able to recruit a new physician owner in 2009 and have two new physicians who have been granted privileges this summer (2010) to work at MEC (non-equity),” he says.

2. Looking at participation in new insurance products. This includes Medicaid, which was never available to Michigan ASCs until 2010, he says.

3. Cash discounts. Private pay (patients with no insurance) has grown substantially in the past year, Mr. Fausone says. “We are discounting cash payments at time of service 30 percent.”
