Full-time cardiologists in the South earn the most compared to other regions, according to MedAxiom's "2023 Cardiovascular Provider Compensation and Production Survey Report."

The income gap between health system-integrated cardiologists and private practice cardiologists widened in 2022, with integrated physicians earning $57,000 more than their private counterparts, according to a 2023 report from MedAxiom, an affiliate of the American College of Cardiology.

Healthgrades ranked the top 50 hospitals for cardiac surgery in 2023, including three in Florida.

Here are two new cardiology partnerships formed in September, reported by Becker's since Sept. 14:

Chillicothe, Ohio-based Adena Health has paused its cardiac surgical program, effective immediately, following an internal review and an assessment by healthcare operations consultancy firm HealthLinx. 

The highest paid cardiologist in San Francisco earns $860,000, according to Medscape's salary reporter tool, which is much higher than the mean annual wage of $421,330 cardiologists make according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The cardiovascular specialty might just be the ASC industry's next golden child.
