The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison has been awarded a $5.7 million grant by the National Institutes of Health to study the long-term effects of vaping on heart and lung health.

Cardiology is the fastest-growing ASC specialty and, as such, has been drawing attention from private equity groups and other consolidators, as cardiovascular procedures continue to migrate to the ASC setting.

Oklahoma City-based Cardiovascular Specialists and physician Stewart Katz, MD, have paid $270,000 to settle false claims allegations. 

New York City-based NYU Langone Heart has expanded care services to the NYU Langone Hospital in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, according to a Dec. 29 report from the BKReader.

Montgomery, Ala.-based River Region Cardiology Associates has filed a notice of data breach with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based HonorHealth's cardiology team is the first in the state to perform transcatheter pulmonary valve therapy using Medtronic's Harmony technology, Arizona Digital Free Press reported Dec. 26.
