New York is the state that employs the most cardiologists.

New technological developments in the cardiology field have increased collaboration to improve patient care, according to one cardiac surgeon. 

Mesa, Ariz.-based Tri-City Cardiology has added the CardioMEMS HF System following approval from CMS.

Minnesota pays cardiologists the highest hourly wage, according to May 2023 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Declining reimbursements, the exodus of retiring cardiologists and burnout are three of the biggest challenges facing the cardiology field, according to leaders in the industry. 

The highest-paid cardiologist in New Orleans earns $815,900, according to Medscape's salary reporter tool, which is much higher than the mean annual wage of $423,250 cardiologists make according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

AdventHealth Hendersonville (N.C.) added Eduardo Balcells, MD, to serve as medical director of cardiology.

The American College of Cardiology has added Cathie Biga, MSN, as its new president. Ms. Biga is the organization's first ever non-physician president. 

Healthgrades recently released its rankings for the best hospitals in the U.S. for cardiac surgery, including nine in Pennsylvania.
