Cardiology

As the demand for cardiac care in the US continues to rise, and as more patients are screened and treated for cardiovascular disease, cardiac catheterization  and percutaneous coronary intervention procedure demand will also continue to grow. 

The highest-paid cardiologist in Charlotte, N.C., earns $947,300, according to Medscape's salary reporter tool, which is much higher than the mean annual wage of $423,250 cardiologists make according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

A veteran cardiologist with Brigham and Women's Hospital (Boston) has filed a lawsuit claiming she was being paid nearly $100,000 less than a less experienced male colleague, according to a July 30 Cardiovascular Business report. 

Cardiology is one of the fastest-growing specialties for ASCs, and many leaders feel this growth  will only accelerate as payers, investors and physicians realize the opportunities.
