Interventional cardiologist Christoph Sossou, MD, has joined the staff at McLeod Cardiology Associates.

The Morgantown-based West Virginia University Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute have added four new surgeons, according to a Sept. 4 report from My Buckhannon.

Connecticut has the highest number of cardiologists per capita out of any state at 11.31 cardiologists for every 100,000 residents. 

The highest-paid cardiologist in Sacramento, Calif., earns $823,400, according to Medscape's salary reporter tool, which is much higher than the mean annual wage of $423,250 cardiologists make according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth Medical Group has added Faithful Osawe, MD, to its cardiology staff.

Eiman Jahangir, MD, a cardiologist from Nashville-based Vanderbilt University, is heading to space as part of a six-person crew, according to an Aug. 28 report from NBC affiliate WSMV.

The Alabama State Health Planning and Development Agency in Montgomery, Ala., has issued a certificate of need for an $18.6 million cardiology ASC, according to an Aug. 28 report from ABC affiliate WBMA. 

Humble, Texas-based Modern Heart and Vascular has added Devang Parikh, MD, to its staff.

Cardiology has been a specialty of interest for several ASC leaders in 2024.
