Average annual resident salary is $61,200, according to Medscape's residents 2019 salary and debt report.

The top 10 earning residents:

1. Medical geneticists - $67,500
2. Allergy and immunology - $66,500
3. HIV/infectious diseases - $66,500
4. Surgery, specialized - $65,700
5. Plastic surgery/aesthetic medicine - $65,600
6. Cardiology - $65,400
7. Hematology - $65,400
8. Critical care - $65,300
9. Endocrinology - $64,700
10. Pulmonary medicine - $64,600
