Gallup and West Health surveyed 3,537 American adults between Jan. 14 and Feb. 20, 2019, on the impact healthcare costs have on personal finances and satisfaction with the U.S. healthcare system.
The key insights to know:
1. Most Americans would prefer a freeze in healthcare costs —- 61 percent they’d prefer healthcare costs stay static for five years over a 10 percent increase in household income.
2. Seventy-seven percent of Americans said they were concerned rising healthcare costs will significantly damage the U.S. economy.
3. Over the next two years, 76 percent of Americans said they think healthcare costs will increase.
4. Almost 3 million Americans borrowed $10,000 or more to pay for healthcare ove the course of the past year.
