Doximity released its 2019 physician compensation report comparing average salary differences between specialties.

Doximity compiled the report from surveys completed by 90,000 licensed, full-time U.S. physicians who work at least 40 hours a week.

The five lowest and highest paying specialties:

Highest average annual salary

Neurosurgery: $616,823
Thoracic surgery: $584.287
Orthopedic surgery: $526,385
Radiation oncology: $486.089
Vascular surgery: $484,740

Lowest average annual salary:

Pediatric infectious disease: $185,892
Pediatric Endocrinology: $201,033
Pediatrics: $222,942
Pediatric hematology and oncology: $222,953
Family medicine: $242,352
