Here are seven reimbursement updates for ASCs from the first quarter:

Meridian has sold a 57,573-square-foot medical office building with an ASC in Laguna Hills, Calif. 

Maine Gov. Janet Mills signed a law April 6 that requires certified registered nurse anesthetist services be covered and reimbursed by payers.

Hartford, Ky.-based Ohio County Healthcare is adding a $16 million surgery center, which is expected to break ground mid-fall. 

Renovation has begun on Buffalo, N.Y.-based Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center's Head & Neck Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Speech Pathology & Dental Center, according to an April 8 release.

The Florida legislature passed a law March 29 to provide legal shields for healthcare providers, including ASCs, against COVID-19 liability claims, the National Law Review reported April 9.

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente is building a $25 million facility with an ASC in Woodbridge, Va.

Regent Surgical Health's recent partnerships with TowerBrook Capital and Ascension Capital show the company's growing commitment to ASCs.   

Some ASC leaders think President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan could be a win for ASCs. 

Leapfrog Group and AARP are currently advocating for Congress to pass a policy requiring ASCs to report their COVID-19 infection rates on an ongoing basis.
