4. The undocumented immigrant’s attorney, claims the clinic potentially violated HIPAA. The clinic countered it does not report undocumented patients to law enforcement, but reported the woman in this case because she presented false identification.
5. California lawmakers are proposing a legislation allowing undocumented immigrants to purchase ACA coverage. Those in favor of the legislation claim expanding healthcare is humane and financially necessary as those who do not have sufficient insurance are likely to delay treatment until they are seriously ill and need costly emergency care.
