6 things to know about Orthofix

Here are six things to know about Orthofix, a Lewisville, Texas-based reconstructive and regenerative orthopedic and spine solutions company.

1. Founded in 1980 in Verona, Italy, by orthopedic researcher Giovanni De Bastiani, Orthofix currently employs about 900 people while serving over 50 countries. They have strategic business units in biostim, biologics, extremity fixation and spine fixation.

2. Orthofix also collaborates on research and development activities with organizations such as the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation, Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.​

3. For the fiscal year of 2015, Orthofix expects to report net sales in the range of $385 million to $390 million.

4. The global orthopedic trauma device market is expected to reach a value of $9.4 billion in 2020 and was valued at just $5.7 billion in 2013, according to a Persistence Market Research report. The report named Orthofix as a major player.

5. Brad Mason currently serves as president and CEO of Orthofix. He has served in this position since 2013, and previously served the company from 2003 to 2010 in various positions, including Group President of North America.

6. Orthofix added Lily Marks to its board of directors in June 2015. Ms. Marks is Vice President for Health Affairs for the University of Colorado. Other board directors include Ronald Matricaria, chairman of the board, Luke Faulstick, James Hinrichs, chair of the audit and finance committee, Guy Jordan PhD, chair of the compensation committee, Anthony Martin PhD, Brad Mason, president and CEO and Maria Sainz, chair of the compliance committee.
