The survey included more than 1,000 NP and PA respondents. Here are 10 key findings:
1. Thirty-eight percent of NPs and 44 percent of PAs report being very satisfied in their current roles; one-fourth of the total respondents said they were extremely satisfied and only 6 percent said they were unsatisfied.
2. Most of the respondents said their income increased from 2015 to 2016 and 12 percent said their income increased by 8 percent or more year-over-year.
3. Fourteen percent of the respondents said they received a signing bonus, which is becoming more common as the market demand for NPs and PAs increases.
4. Last year, around two-thirds of the respondents earned from $75,000 to $125,000 and another 30 percent reported earnings from $101,000 to $125,000.
5. NPs reported their average salary was $106,500 and PAs reported average salary at $111,500
6. Hospital-based clinicians reported a salary of $125,200 on average, a higher annual salary than those who contracted or were in private groups.
7. The reported median salary for all NPs and PAs across the board regardless of setting or experience level was $100,000.
8. Eleven percent of the respondents said their signing bonuses averaged $9,000.
